Let’s review Syllaby's claims and walk through the functionalities.

My first impression is that the website has an intuitive and user-friendly interface. 💯 for the UI/UX (5/5 stars)

Claim 1: Strategize Your Entire Social Media Plan in Minutes.

Umm, my first thought from the claim is that Syllaby will allow me to search keywords, plan content, make content, and make keywords for posted content. Streamlining the content creation and publishing planning process. My experience with the discovering ideas feature is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t . . . and when it doesn’t, it kinda blows.

Another search that I think is pretty common doesn’t yield any results, which is unfortunate since the whole purpose of my searching was, in fact, to get results. I think the devs need to add some SQL queries to filter or improve the output because showing 0 for most of the search results is not a good look 😥 and kind of pointless.

✍️ Verdict: I guess it’s limited-ly useful? A soft 3/5.

Claim 2: Create Your AI Avatar with Syllaby’s Digital Twin Feature

It’s 2023-4, so there should be a variety of races, genders, and sizes, which I think has done a good job here. There are not a lot of selections in general, but there’s a variety.

However, The voiceover is totally off and unengaging. Oh my, most voice selections are just robot voices in different variations. Can’t I get a human-recognizable variety or have a way to mimic my own voice?

Overall, I found the voiceover on the AI to be very fake, to the point of me laughing out loud hearing or dreading to listen to it anymore. It feels better not to use the AI avatar at all because it looks very cryptic and unengaging (unless that’s the vibe you’re going for in your social media post). As someone with mild OCD, the total mismatch of the voice and the AI Avatar speaking drives me a bit crazy to watch.

Claim 3: Effortlessly Write Winning Scripts Using the Power of AI

The tool only lets me put in a title and some basic customization. But what if I want more? What if I want some specificity?

I don’t find it helpful because the content consists only of empty words. Instead, I find it unusable compared to other tools I have tried that let you paste in content, summarize outline, and generate scripts based on your content. It has no options to select, add, or remove the outline before writing the entire script. Customizing with just a title is tough, and I think that is a fatal flaw.

✍️ Verdict: 1/5. Essentially, the effortless writing advertised is just an elaborate wrapper of ChatGPT’s OpenAI LLM (and I don’t feel like it’s even GPT4.0)

Claim 4: Your all-in-one platform for social media content creation and brand development. It equips you with an entire toolkit to establish a strong presence across various platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook

This is the weirdest claim cause the tool only lets you post to TikTok and YouTube. I mean I get it users can do it manually. But for a tool that is said to streamline your social media capabilities, it’s only half way there.

✍️ Verdict: 3/5 (2.5 rounded up since it has TikTok and YouTube, and I like their video editor interface)

Author’s verdict

As my Husband’s Mom liked to say, “If you can’t say anything nice, it's best not to say anything at all.” But, perhaps ignoring that advice, Syllaby just isn’t there yet. These are very good ideas, but they aren’t there for the execution of actual business functions. To be fair, I have also tried other competitors such as Invideo AI, and I also don’t think they’re there yet to be called “game-changer”, so no hard feelings.
