Google recently launched an AI overview feature that was overhyped to kill SEO and enhance the search experience. However, multiple users have reported failed instances of this new feature, and I want to share the collections of these failed instances I found with readers here.

Overview

In May 2024, Google began rolling out AI Overviews, which provide AI-generated answers and summaries to some search queries. AI Overviews appear at the top of search results, above the traditional search results, when Google's systems determine that an AI-generated response can quickly provide helpful information. Google's Gemini foundation model powers the feature.

This collection hopes to serve as a reminder that:

1. As much as companies try to jump on the AI hype and how AI can do every fantastic thing, this instance serves as a reminder that we’re not there yet.

2. AI can make mistakes, and a savvy consumer should not be over-reliant on technology without proper research.
